Amongst the administrative regions of China lies Macau. This small province was under Portuguese ruling until the handover in 1999. For a quieter time visit St. Domingo's Church, this Catholic Church was originally built in wood in 1587 and is still stunning. There is also a small museum to visit. Senate square is an excellent tourist point, its black and white ground is amazing and the architecture of the buildings will astound you. The steep climb up to the ruins of St Paul's Cathedral is well worth it. This is an important part of the Portuguese history dating back to the 16th Century.
